SYNOPSIS
Cédric, Clément, and Elise are young percussionists. They are completing their musical training in the percussion department at the Strasbourg Higher Academy of Music (HEAR). A year to prepare to spread their wings toward a future career as a soloist or orchestral musician. A year marked by competitions and recitals of the highest standards. And yet, a path they still question as they take the plunge. A year of relentless rehearsals—alone, in duos, or in quartets—with the professors, Emmanuel, Denis, and Stephan, marked by intensity, rigor, patience, and above all, passion. Or in the corner of a hallway, for a moment’s breath, a whispered confidence. In the vibrant maelstrom of music coming to life.
THE DIRECTOR
Writer-director, born in 1963 in Obernai. Master’s degree in Ethnology from the University of Human Sciences in Strasbourg.
I taught filmmaking from 1995 to 2022 in the Film Department at Wissembourg High School, as well as in the Bachelor’s and Professional Master’s programs in documentary filmmaking at the UFR Arts in Strasbourg.
From 2017 to 2022, I served on the audiovisual committee of SCAM (Société civile des auteurs multimédias).
After studying Ethnology in the 1980s in Strasbourg, I shot my first film, Anne, on my own with a painter friend in 1993. With no money and just an HI-8 camera, I wanted to see if I was capable of making a film. I spent nearly six months following her in her work and came to realize the experience, the challenge of filmmaking. This marked the beginning of my cinematic journey, where the person I seek to film helps me understand life and the world. Since then, I have continued down this path, which keeps leading me to extraordinary people.
