SYNOPSIS

Jean-Pierre Théolier was my friend in the 1990s. He spent forty years of his life getting high on everything imaginable. He made music professionally, wrote a critically acclaimed book, but always created under the influence of drugs, as if he were incapable of producing an artistic work without drugs, without destroying himself.

Today, I find him again: he lives free from his demons, he is clean of all substances; a calm life, guided by Christian morality and the teachings of Christ, a life punctuated by his many philanthropic commitments. He met Caroline a year ago. Love is the rhythm of his existence. Religious practice structures his daily life.

It is this intimate experience with drugs and this reconstruction, for which Jean-Pierre uses the words "grace" or "miracle," that we, he and I, want to bear witness to in this film.

THE DIRECTOR

Born in Angers in 1975, Rodolphe Viémont began studying engineering before being captivated by cinema after discovering Fritz Lang's Die Niblungende. He abandoned everything and, after three years of audiovisual training, worked as a technician in various roles on short and feature films, commercials, music videos, and more, while simultaneously writing.

Rodolphe directed his third short fiction film in 2007, working with Aurélien Recoing and Olivier Py. His third documentary, Humeur Liquide, was released in Paris in 2016 and has been the subject of regular screenings and discussions in France ever since. Its sequel, Pour Ernestine, further developing a style of filmmaking unafraid of literature and the romantic, was released nationwide in April 2019.

In addition to other audiovisual creations, over the years he has also directed two other documentaries with Ana Films: La tenture de l'Apocalypse (2011) and Le Champ d'Igor (2021).

Other works with Ana Films :

Le champ d'Igor (2021)

La tenture de l'Apocalypse (2011)
