SYNOPSIS
In Colmar, Annabelle and Nicolas are struggling to keep the independent bookstore Feuilles d’encre afloat. As cultural advocates, they tirelessly promote books and have turned the store into a hub for community. Caught between their passion for sharing culture in a vibrant, physical space and the harsh economic reality of a highly competitive industry, will they be able to hold on?
THE DIRECTOR
Florence Mauro grew up in a family where her father’s Italian and Northern French roots blended harmoniously with her mother’s Breton heritage. She studied literature and film in Paris and, at the age of 29, published her first novel, which was well-received by critics.
A program consultant at France 3 for about fifteen years, she simultaneously pursued a literary career, alternating between novels and essays, before beginning to direct documentary films in 2006. More recently, her work has also expanded to include visual art installations, articles on art, and collections of poetry.
